Garrett & Kimberly
Lifestyle Engagement Portraits

Garrett and Kimberly first met on their community swim team when they were only 6 and 7 years old.

Kimberly recalls having a crush on Garrett, but cooties were still very real so she simply admired him from afar. One year, however, they both won the coveted award and their names were carved side by side on the same plaque. According to Kim, “In my expert 10-year-old opinion, that was fate. We were meant to be together.”

And she was right! Garrett and Kimberly both joined their high school swim team which brought them back together. All of Kimberly’s childhood feelings for Garrett returned. They quickly became friends and began dating. But like most high school relationships, it ended before graduation came around. They went their separate ways for college, but remained friends and occasionally stayed in touch over email.

But after college, they both found themselves back in San Francisco, Garrett attending UCSF for dental school and Kimberly starting her career in healthcare finance. Around this time, Facebook recommend Kimberly as a “friend you should stay in touch with” to Garrett. He sent her a message and they reconnected as friends. And just like that, Kimberly’s childhood dream came back. It was fate – these two were meant to be together.

Garrett spent the next few years trying to convince Kimberly to go on a real date with him, as more than just a friend. It was during a two month sabbatical out of the country, waking up sick and unable to get out of bed that she realized how foolish she had been by rejecting all of Garrett’s invitations. She returned home, they went out for dinner, and the night ended with a kiss. Fate had brought them back together again and for good this time.

We had the pleasure of photographing Kim and Garrett’s engagement session in Danville, the place where it all began. I can’t wait to share the beautiful Tahoe wedding with you next!

Jared & Janice Sausalito Engagement

Jared and Janice have their friends to thank for their first meeting.

The two had been matched up and there were talks about a potential blind date, but they ended up first meeting at a friend’s get together. They both went to the party knowing they were going to meet the other person there. It was like having a blind date with all of your close friends in attendance. But once they saw each other, they were both thankful.

Jared was definitely interested in seeing Janice again. This time without all of their friends joining them. With the party in full swing, he finally got the courage to ask Janice for her phone number. And just as he began to utter the words the room fell silent. Though it made an already nerve-racking situation even more embarrassing, Jared walked away with Janice’s phone number and plans for an official first date.

Janice and Jared said those famous three words “I love you” while walking along the water’s edge in Sausalito. They decided to go back to that very spot for their engagement photos. The session was filled with love and laughter and I’m confident their marriage will be too.

Jared and Janice, I smiled my way through your photos. I wanted to go back and relive the entire session. I cannot wait to see you two again! Your wedding this November is going to be a special one. We are so excited for you both! Congratulations on your engagement! We hope you enjoy this very special time of life.

Elias+Yuris
Old Town Alexandria Engagement

Elias and Yuris both knew each other before they knew the other person knew. Make sense? Let me explain.

Elias was the older brother of one of Yuris’ close friends, but she assumed he didn’t know she even existed. In reality though, he had already noticed her when their paths fatefully crossed one morning at church. While the future was unknown to them, God was at work behind the scenes bringing these two together.

They eventually ended up on the same praise team. And while praise team was meant for singing, which they did, it was also the first time Yuris and Elias spoke to each other. It must have made an impression because Elias conveniently offered Yuris a ride home from one of their recording sessions. In fact, it became their thing. He would drive her home and they would talk. Their rides somehow took longer and their conversations grew deeper. Then one memorable night they talked for so long they were both embarrassed by how late it had gotten without them noticing. They bashfully said their goodbyes but inside they were smiling.

It was a turning point in their relationship. If they weren’t together in person, they were constantly on each others minds. And before long, they were officially dating.

We photographed Yuris and Elias’ engagement photos in the beautiful Old Town of Alexandria, Virginia. The town has so much character and charm just like Yuris and Elias. Having booked us over email, this was our very first time meeting the happy couple. And after only a few minutes chatting over tea, we couldn’t believe such special people had chosen us to be their wedding photographers. We were a match made in heaven and we are thrilled to be photographing their wedding this coming April back in Virginia. It can’t get here soon enough!

Yuris and Elias, my heart was bursting at the seams as I began selecting our favorites for this post. Your love is so sweet and evident in each one! Thank you for all of the laughs! And thank you for giving us the honor and sincere pleasure of being your wedding photographers. Congratulations! Enjoy this very special time in life. Love to you both!
