Wedding Season The
Kick-off

We have officially kicked off wedding season!

My body reminded me of the fact this morning. But despite the physical exhaustion a wedding day brings, we couldn’t be happier to be back at it. This is a special season – it’s our first one as Pictilio. Changing our business to Pictilio was so much more than just a name/logo change. This is our fourth wedding season and we are more excited than ever. And thankful. Thankful for where we are at, how much we’ve grown over the years. But honestly, thankful for the clients we have. Documenting Brian and Shayla’s wedding this weekend was a simple reminder of how great our clients are to entrust their most important day to us.

Here is a sneak peek! Happy Tuesday!

Breakfast for Dinner

My love for sweets leaves me with a special fondness for breakfast time. But with wedding season about to get underway, our lazy Saturdays will soon be coming to an end.

Not ready to give up one of my favorite times of the week, Vitaliy made me these delicious pancakes last Friday night. Breakfast for dinner has always been a favorite of mine so I think this should be a great substitute for the summer.

Believe it or not, these Oat and Banana Pancakes are vegan. I’m not really the vegan type, but we’ve been experimenting a bit and I’ve been pleasantly surprised. They are simple and easy to make, and delicious with or without syrup. They’re just that good!

Here’s to the perfect breakfast dinner date for two! (But if you have kiddos, they’ll likely want to join you.)

You can find the recipe to these delicious pancakes on ellentv.com. Enjoy!

A Blind Date

It typically works like a blind date only they have the advantage because they know what we look like from our website. Like any good date, we try to arrive early and prepare everything before their arrival. We order a pot of tea and play the waiting game. Vitaliy and I try to see if we can guess who they are before they spot us. Surprisingly, we’re pretty good at it.

The highlight of a wedding consultation for me is to sit across from a couple and watch as they share the story of how they fell in love. There is truly nothing quite like it and the minute it starts to get old, I think we should start looking for a new career. Because what we do as photographers directly correlates with this story. The pictures we create are simply a reflection and an extension of the love established during those first days of their relationship, those days when their love started to grow and their commitment to one another began.

I hope we all continue telling our stories and listening to others’. It keeps the love alive. I’ve not seen this done better than in the movie When Harry Met Sally. I could watch these clips over and over and never be tired of them. I hope to one day be old and gray and still telling the story of how I met a handsome boy from Ukraine at the cafeteria table in college.
