Plant a Garden Together

Vitaliy constantly wants to work with his hands. He recently sewed together his very own tea bag. No joke! I can’t believe the skills he’s been masking over the years. I think I need to start making a list for him. I’ll be more than happy to keep those hands busy.

Being a country boy at heart though, what he really wants to do is work the land. He talks often of his grandparents’ farm in Ukraine. And has fond memories of harvesting fruits and vegetables, as well as, grabbing fresh eggs from their chicken coop.

While our vegetable garden is still in the works, we decided to start with something simple and spruce up our walkway a bit. Planting this garden of flowers was a pleasure. It was fun working on a project together and now we get to walk past these beauties every day. And smile.

Super Duper
Burgers

They might as well call it Super Duper French Fries.

This San Francisco hamburger joint did nothing but impress me with their very own version of the SF staple – garlic fries. While most establishments, including AT&T Park, home of the Giants, pile their fries with shredded garlic, Super Duper infuses their garlic in butter and lightly drizzle it over the fries. Then they sprinkle on cheese that looks identical to shredded garlic leaving these fries deceptively delicious.

Homemade pickles and organic soft serve ice cream are two other items that make this place unique. While their hamburgers are delicious, Vitaliy and I opted for a veggie burger and a Portobello mushroom sandwich this time around. Both left us satisfied and happy. If you are in the area, be sure to check out Super Duper Burger. It’s the kind of place that will leave you coming back for more.

Breakfast for Dinner

My love for sweets leaves me with a special fondness for breakfast time. But with wedding season about to get underway, our lazy Saturdays will soon be coming to an end.

Not ready to give up one of my favorite times of the week, Vitaliy made me these delicious pancakes last Friday night. Breakfast for dinner has always been a favorite of mine so I think this should be a great substitute for the summer.

Believe it or not, these Oat and Banana Pancakes are vegan. I’m not really the vegan type, but we’ve been experimenting a bit and I’ve been pleasantly surprised. They are simple and easy to make, and delicious with or without syrup. They’re just that good!

Here’s to the perfect breakfast dinner date for two! (But if you have kiddos, they’ll likely want to join you.)

You can find the recipe to these delicious pancakes on ellentv.com. Enjoy!
