Hello from Ukraine!

I am writing to you today from Kiev, Ukraine! We arrived home from Palm Springs in the wee ours of Friday morning and left Sunday afternoon to Ukraine. It was a whirlwind weekend, but we are so happy to finally be here.

The last time I was here was 8 years ago. I came to Ukraine to support Vitaliy which I wrote about here. Obviously, a lot of things have changed since then.

Like Vitaliy now has a mustache!

Okay, okay…obviously that isn’t the most monumental change that has occurred, but it is crazy to think of life then compared to life now. We were only 21 years old at that time and had been dating less than a year.

Though my initial trip was a difficult one, I am so grateful as I think back on it. I am thankful to see God’s faithfulness over the years. And Vitaliy and I are eager to make new memories in his home country.

We hope to share more photos of our trip, but since we haven’t done much besides eat and sleep since we’ve arrived, here is the view from our sister’s apartment in Kiev.

Are you planning any trips for the summer? Do tell!

Out Of Touch

Vitaliy and I spent the last week in the incredibly hipster town of Palm Springs.

We had the pleasure of shooting a destination wedding on Saturday with Teresa Halton which we followed up with a mini-vacation. It was our very first time to Palm Springs and we honestly cannot wait to go back. Living in Northern California with it’s cooler temps, we relished the dry heat of this dessert town. We have so many fun pictures and recommendations to share.

Until then, here’s a peek at our view last week, the beautiful Alcazar.

Have you ever been to Palm Springs? If so, did you enjoy it as much as we did?

Never Imagined

We’re on our way to Palm Springs to shoot a wedding and it got me thinking.

I never imagined having a job that would bring me such fun opportunities.
I never imagined owning my own business, or being a photographer.
Which then got me thinking…

I never imagined I’d quit college.
I never imagined I’d move to California.
I never imagined I’d start my marriage with a teenager.
Heck, I never imagined I’d be married…to a Ukrainian no less!
If I did ever envision marriage, I never imagined not having a mother and father-in-law.

Everything in my life right now is not how I ever imagined it, and yet, it far exceeds my imaginations. I couldn’t have thought up this crazy life, but I’m thankful for each piece. This week I’m learning that I don’t really have control over my life as much as I like to think I do. I’m learning to trust the One who really does. He gives and He takes away.

I never imagined I would know, love and trust in Jesus.
