Quintessential Ukrainian

Ukraine Collage

Privet! As of today, Vitaliy and I have officially been in Ukraine for a week. As the saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun.

Here is a peek at at our time here so far with corresponding captions below.

1. A hedgehog sighting on one of our morning runs.

2. I don’t know what is more quintessential Ukrainian: the plethora of sausage or the woman selling them.

3. Ukrainians love to picnic. This is on our agenda this coming week.

4. Forget the Mini Cooper or the Fiat, I want one of these!

5. Birch trees in the park. I think I walk more here in one day then I do per week in America.

6. Vitaliy on the “marshrutka” in Kiev. These little buses are a main part of public transit.

7. Sisters, sisters…me and Vitaliy’s sisters, Leska and Tanya.

8. Ferris wheel paired with “plombir” (Ukrainian ice cream). One happy me!

That’s it for now, but come join us on Instagram to see more! I hope you have a great week! Poka!

Hello from Ukraine!

I am writing to you today from Kiev, Ukraine! We arrived home from Palm Springs in the wee ours of Friday morning and left Sunday afternoon to Ukraine. It was a whirlwind weekend, but we are so happy to finally be here.

The last time I was here was 8 years ago. I came to Ukraine to support Vitaliy which I wrote about here. Obviously, a lot of things have changed since then.

Like Vitaliy now has a mustache!

Okay, okay…obviously that isn’t the most monumental change that has occurred, but it is crazy to think of life then compared to life now. We were only 21 years old at that time and had been dating less than a year.

Though my initial trip was a difficult one, I am so grateful as I think back on it. I am thankful to see God’s faithfulness over the years. And Vitaliy and I are eager to make new memories in his home country.

We hope to share more photos of our trip, but since we haven’t done much besides eat and sleep since we’ve arrived, here is the view from our sister’s apartment in Kiev.

Are you planning any trips for the summer? Do tell!

Out Of Touch

Vitaliy and I spent the last week in the incredibly hipster town of Palm Springs.

We had the pleasure of shooting a destination wedding on Saturday with Teresa Halton which we followed up with a mini-vacation. It was our very first time to Palm Springs and we honestly cannot wait to go back. Living in Northern California with it’s cooler temps, we relished the dry heat of this dessert town. We have so many fun pictures and recommendations to share.

Until then, here’s a peek at our view last week, the beautiful Alcazar.

Have you ever been to Palm Springs? If so, did you enjoy it as much as we did?
