Anthony+Nicole
Engaged

When asked what he loved about Nicole upon first meeting her, Anthony answered, she’s Greek! To which I replied, Opa!

Though being Greek was a factor that brought the two together, one look at Nicole’s smile and you know there was more to the attraction. The first time Anthony saw that beautiful smile he was playing guitar at an event Nicole was attending. By the time he was finished playing and worked up the courage to approach her, Nicole had already left for the evening. With mutual friends, he was confident he’d get another chance.

In fact, Nicole made sure he’d have another chance. Finding out that Anthony would be playing at a local New Year’s Eve party, Nicole made sure to make an appearance. The two finally met, exchanged information, and kept in touch over MySpace. Three months later they had an official first date.

Anthony and Nicole, thank you for choosing us to be your wedding photographers. Since the very first email exchange, it has been a pleasure getting to know you both. Whether we’re talking over email or in person, you make us laugh. Thank you for being kind, thoughtful, and sincere. You guys are seriously adorable together! We can’t wait to photograph your wedding this August. Congratulations to you both! With love – V & C

Anthony proposed to Nicole in a seaplane off the coast of Sausalito. Thanks to Seaplane Adventures for letting celebrate the moment by allowing us to photograph on their dock.

Also, a big thank you to Sophia Callas and Nicole Tott-Berger for making Nicole even more beautiful than she already is.

Throwback
to the 1950s

Last month we had the pleasure of being a part of The Lab Event, a not-so-ordinary bridal experience.

We were assigned the Peony Pop inspiration board designed by Snippet and Ink reader Tara Matthews. It was so much fun to meet her at event!

The next item of business was to get together with our team and start the creative process of bringing this board to life. Working alongside such an incredible team of creatives was definitely the highlight of our Lab experience.

By the end of our meeting, we collectively decided that a wedding vignette was not complete without a real bride and groom. Something that, I believe, was a first at The Lab Event. That made it even more exciting! We knew the perfect couple to portray our non-traditional 50s inspired wedding.

We photographed Brian and Shayla’s wedding in May of 2012. They are both extremely creative – Shayla is a hairstylist and Brian is a graphic designer. It was such a pleasure to work with them again! As we expected, they were perfect for the part.

Here are the “engagement” photos we took of Brian and Shayla that were printed, placed in gold frames, and then hung within our vignette. As we researched the 50s for inspiration, we decided we wanted something that loosely represented the era. We wanted it to have throwbacks to the 1950s, but still work for today’s bride and groom. We specifically shot for black and white, kept an editorial edge, and wanted a moody feel to the images. We were thrilled with the final results!

Gabe+Nikki
Engaged

They joke that it took Nikki three years to finally go on a date with Gabe.

But in reality, well…that is the reality. The two first met at a company wide event. Nikki definitely caught the eye of Gabe, but to his dismay, she was already in a relationship. The two remained friends, seeing each other at company outings, but for the most part, Gabe kept his distance out of respect for her. Though Nikki may have been out of sight, he never put her completely out of his mind. And it was a good thing he didn’t.

Nikki’s relationship eventually came to an end. Though things in her personal life were in flux, her professional life was flourishing. To congratulate her, Gabe sent Nikki an email. Her heart fluttered when she opened it as she thought of Gabe and his handsome blue eyes. Gabe mentioned her boyfriend in the email, saying that he must have been proud of her. But to this day, he maintains he wasn’t fishing for information. He had no idea they had broken up and Nikki knew that too. She decided to use this email as an opportunity to let him know she was officially single. She too had never put him completely out of her mind.

Gabe swears he kept it cool and didn’t ask her out right away. But I personally don’t believe it. They went on their first date after three years and that was all it took. Gabe finally had Nikki and he was never letting her go.

Gabe and Nikki, we smiled and laughed the entire time we picked our favorite images to share with you today. I don’t know if I’m more fond of the photos that we took of you or the memories that we have with you. They are both beautiful and special to us. Thank you for being you! We are thrilled to be photographing your wedding this August. We love you both!

Gabe and Nikki’s engagement session was photographed in the beautiful Park City, Utah.
