Einstein Bagels

This Sunday Vitaliy and I will be celebrating 6 years of marriage. I’m still in denial that it has already been 6 years.

As we plan how we want to celebrate, we can’t help but reminisce our epic trip to Chicago last year to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We wanted to go back down memory lane, to visit all of the places where our love both started and blossomed. It was honestly one of the best trips we’ve ever taken together.

When we were at college in Chicago, one of the things that became a Saturday morning tradition was to walk to Einstein Bagels for breakfast. It was about a mile walk, which during a Chicago winter can feel more like a 5 mile trek. Though the wind was painfully piercing at times, all that mattered was that he was by my side.

Vitaliy and I have been through a lot over the last 6 years. It’s hard to put into words how special this trip was for us as a couple. I can remember sitting at Einstein’s as a college student trying to decipher my feelings for Vitaliy and what future we would have together. He was a graduating senior; I still had two years left. He was from Ukraine and could possibly move back. I didn’t imagine my life outside of the Midwest. It was all so unclear.

But there we sat at the same table, now as husband and wife, having lived through things that we could never have imagined as two college kids in love. God is faithful. We had much to celebrate last year and even more to celebrate this year.

Have you taken a trip down memory lane with your loved one recently? I cannot recommend it enough! Revisit one of your early traditions. Redo your first date. It will conjure up fond memories and feelings towards one another. While remembering how it all started, you will walk away encouraged to keep pressing forward. Together.

Shane + Kristi: Wedding at Westmont

Kristi had just accepted a position as a College Professor of Chemistry. In the process of relocating and wanting to focus on her new role, she was a click away from closing her online dating account. But before she got around to finalizing the cancellation, a profile caught her attention. It was Shane, a former Computer Science major, and now computer Programmer.

These two had chemistry (of course!), even though it was over the interwebs. They exchanged messages and eventually met for their first date. Kristi knew she was finally ready to close that account. Shane was everything she was looking for.

Kristi and Shane were married on the campus of Westmont College in Santa Barbara. Their ceremony was filled with so much laughter I’m confident their marriage will be as well. Kristi and Shane, thank you for giving us the joy of documenting your wedding. The entire day was a blast and we loved getting to celebrate the two of you. We wish you a lifetime together filled with love and laughter!

The First Man
In My Life

The first man I ever went on a date with is in town, my dad.

We are having a total blast! From the Golden Gate Bridge to Muir Woods to Napa, and tomorrow we’re heading to Big Sur and then Hearst Castle. My step sister Julie is here too celebrating her upcoming senior year of high school. Of course, we’ll be taking some Senior Pictures this week.

But regardless of the adventures and the sight seeing, I simply love to be in my dad’s presence. To hear stories that I don’t get to hear everyday. I love doing the one thing you can’t avoid doing when you’re with my dad, laughing. Love and laughter is abounding and I’m soaking up every minute of it.

In order to fulling take it all in, this will be the only post for the week. We’ll be checking back in next Tuesday. Here are some recent photos from our recent trip to Castello di Amorosa in Napa Valley.

Any fun trips planned for you this summer?
