Our Secondary Role: Portrait Photographer

I can’t tell you the amount of couples I’ve talked to that haven’t been photographed since their wedding day. But this is what seems to happen. We do everything we can to impress one another while we’re dating. Then we get engaged and the euphoria glides us right into a state of wedded bliss. And then, feeling that we’ve arrived, our relationship can end up sitting like a stagnant puddle.

Whether you’re dating, engaged or married – relationships need to be nurtured. And love deserves to be celebrated!

Our portrait sessions are exclusively for couples, at any stage in their relationship, to do just that – take some time away from the everyday and celebrate their love through photos. We like to call it a photo date.

Our Primary Role: Wedding Photographer

Choosing content for your website is a difficult task. I remember when we were just starting out and we had to pick images for our website. We had no idea who we were as photographers so to try and define it through pictures felt impossible. However, after three years of defining our style, and more specifically, our brand, I felt like picking the images for this website was so much easier. And a whole lot more fun!

Our primary role at Pictilio is that of wedding photographer. Weddings will therefore be a featured category here on the blog. If I had to pick one wedding photograph to define Pictilio, it would be the following.

A Good First Date

Welcome to Pictilio! I’m so tempted to skip the introduction and tell you everything, but that would not make for a good first date. I’m hoping we’re going to have a long future together so let’s take things slow. Here is what I will tell you.

After three years in business, photographing anything and everything, we discovered that we were most passionate about photographing two people in love. As U2 would say, “that mysterious distance between a man and a woman.” It’s a beautiful thing! But we want to not only document it, we want to celebrate it and, we hope, encourage it.

I will end with this.

Vitaliy and I fell in love on the blistery cold streets of downtown Chicago back in 2004. In August of 2011, we celebrated our 5-year wedding anniversary. We are on a mission to not only stay committed to one another, but to stay in love. This blog is dedicated to that mission. We hope it will keep our relationship accountable and we hope it will inspire yours.

The following video inspired me this week. It reminded me of a time when I used to sing with Vitaliy while he played the guitar. I think it’s time we dust ours off. If nothing else, I hope it romances you enough to go kiss the one you love.
